Marlins' stadium with retractable roof is on schedule

The new $642 million Florida Marlins stadium in Miami is on schedule to open in April 2012. The stadium is on budget and will include a retractable roof that will take about 11 months to complete. It could become the first retractable-roof stadium in the country to get Leadership in Energy and Design certification. Read More in The Miami Herald.

NRCA and the Center launch PV credentialing program

The following was posted by NRCA in a July 2010 Press Release:
The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing have launched Roof Integrated Solar Energy (RISE) Inc., an entity created to provide a means of evaluating and certifying solar roofing professionals to support the widespread use of rooftop solar energy. RISE evaluates and certifies solar energy installers for knowledge regarding critical roof construction and maintenance practices necessary to support successful rooftop solar energy installations based on principles regarding the installation and maintenance of rooftop solar energy systems without adversely affecting roof system performance and service life. Individuals who successfully complete the requirements set out by RISE will receive the RISE Certified Solar Roofing Professional (CSRP) certification.
